What happens when artists create shops?
Weird Sisters Freak Boutique is a shop - it meets all the IRS requirements for business vs. hobby. It makes money, we serve customers, there are profit and loss statements - though no one loves saying that phrase here.
But ultimately, Weird Sisters is an art project. It is, I think, the future of both art and business. Without partnership, neither of these really amounts to much. But the pursuits are strangely at odds in our current culture.
So my preferred way to solve all problems is through art. And creating a business that is also an art project seems like it just might work.
